Hi everyone
I am trying to install a new stable kernel-linux-2.6.34 on a my Fedora machine but i keep getting the following Install error:
Here are the commands I executed: make clean
make
make modules_install
With the above commands I did not encounter any errors, but when I used the make install command I got the following statements.
INSTALL /lib/firmware/mts_edge.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/edgeport/boot.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/edgeport/boot2.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/edgeport/down.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/edgeport/down2.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/edgeport/down3.bin
INSTALL /lib/firmware/keyspan_pda/keyspan_pda.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/keyspan_pda/xircom_pgs.fw
INSTALL /lib/firmware/yam/1200.bin
INSTALL /lib/firmware/yam/9600.bin
DEPMOD 2.6.34
[root@localhost linux-2.6.34]# make install
sh /home/server/linux-2.6.34/arch/x86/boot/install.sh 2.6.34 arch/x86/boot/bzImage \
System.map "/boot"
Looking for deps of module ata_piix
No module ata_piix found for kernel 2.6.34, aborting.
mkinitrd failed:
(mkinitrd -v -f /boot/initrd-2.6.34.img --ifneeded 2.6.34)) at /usr/lib/libDrakX/bootloader.pm line 121.
make[1]: *** [install] Error 2
make: *** [install] Error 2
[root@localhost linux-2.6.34]#
Can anyone pliz help me solve the problem and tell me where should I go next.

Here you are not installing the kernel, But rather it is compilation
of kernel.
It seems your environment is not ok,
Try to follow below link.

Why not to choose RPM instead of this long method ?
